Biography
Kelvyn De Leon is a volleyball coach and strength & conditioning specialist with deep roots in the sport, both as a player and a coach. Originally from the Central Valley, where he competed with Triumph Volleyball Academy and was a four-year varsity setter at Madera High School, Kelvyn grew his foundation in high-level competition, setting against some of the top-ranked teams in the country. He now continues to compete on the California beach circuit, actively pursuing a AAA title in CBVA tournaments to stay connected to the athlete perspective.
Kelvyn currently coaches across multiple programs in the Bay Area. He serves as the Head Coach of Notre Dame San Jose’s freshman indoor volleyball team and the Head Coach of MVVC’s 14 Purple girls’ team, while also leading the Notre Dame High School beach volleyball program. Previously, he ran the strength & conditioning programs for women’s soccer at NDSJ and is currently running the strength and conditioning program for Notre Dame’s girls’ frosh and JV volleyball teams, preparing athletes to perform at their best across multiple sports and levels.
On the sand, Kelvyn is a coach with Mandala Beach Volleyball Club, where he designs training plans, runs clinics, and runs camps (including Nike Camp). He’s worked with a wide variety of athletes ranging from ages 9 to 60 and has coached alongside elite figures such as Casey Jennings (AVP champion, and current co-club director for J5), Lance Muret (Assistant Beach Volleyball Coach at Santa Clara University) and Jeff Alzina (Head Beach Volleyball Coach at Santa Clara University, Olympic coach).
Kelvyn also gained collegiate coaching experience as a Volunteer Assistant Coach for De Anza College’s beach volleyball program. During his time at De Anza, he worked closely with Head Coach Dawnis Guevara, a respected leader in California volleyball known for building De Anza’s program into a consistent contender and for her decades of coaching and mentorship in the sport.
Beyond coaching, Kelvyn is building his expertise in sports performance. He is a Kinesiology major at San José State University with a specialization in Exercise and Fitness, and he is currently interning in Strength & Conditioning at Stanford University, where he works directly with collegiate athletes and sport performance coaches.
With a background that combines athlete experience, coaching at the youth, high school, and collegiate levels, and advanced training in strength and conditioning, Kelvyn brings a unique perspective to every athlete he works with grounded in competition, evidence based training, and a passion for athlete development
